NME Tour 2013

So on Sunday 17th February I sacked off uni work and went to the Nme Awards Tour at Cardiff's SU. I was most looking forward to seeing Peace and Palma Violets however was pleasantly surprised by Miles Kane an Django Django. The night ran in this order and the first two bands were good, as expected but nothing surpassing. Miles Kane's tracks were more likeable live and Django Django changed the music style slightly which made for a refreshing ending.

Peace - Wraith

I am currently writing my dissertation and although I usually can't work with any noise at all, this is one exception! (For writing/researching the easy bits). Peace, a band from Birmingham are one to watch out for this year, Wraith is their latest release. They will be joining Palma Violets, Django Django and Miles Kane on the NME awards tour in February.

'Inspiration for the video came from the story behind the song. Lead singer, Harrison Koisser said: "Wraith is about falling in love with a prostitute, but not really a prostitute and not really falling in love."

Palma Violets

Palma Violets performing 'Tom the Drum' on Jools Holland. The band also performed 'Best of Friends,' and 'Last of the Summer Wine.' I can't wait for their debut album '180' to be released 25th February.

M.I.A - Bad Girls Video directed by Romain Garvas, came out on top at the UK MTV Video Music Awards. It was named Best Pop Music Video of the Year, named Best Video of the Year and awarded Best Styling in a video, (stylist - Hannah Edwards). Not normally a fan of this type of music, it's started to grow on me and after seeing the video, I love it even more.
The concept was a combination of ideas, M.I.A saw an image of a strong Iranian woman driving a lorry, and the director had seen videos of crazy dangerous drag racing across the desert...from this came the video!

I love the styling for this video.
